Job summary

Startec Compression & Process Ltd. in Calgary, AB is seeking a Pipefitter to assemble piping systems and install major equipment on skidded packages at our Shepard Shop. You will read P&IDs, GA’s, and piping specs, and may mentor apprentices as needed.

Ideal candidates are registered 3rd/4th year apprentices or journeypersons with 1–2 years of fabrication experience and strong teamwork and communication skills to thrive in a dynamic shop environment.

Qualifications

• Registered 3rd or 4th year Apprentice or Journeyperson Pipefitter.
• 1–2 years of experience in fabrication or manufacturing environment.
• Team player with good organizational and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Mount majors and assemble piping systems per drawings on skidded packages.
• Read and interpret P&IDs, GA’s and Piping Specifications.
• Mentor apprentices for skill development when required.
• Assist in installing major equipment and skids.

POSITION OVERVIEW:

Startec Compression & Process is currently recruiting a Pipefitter to work at our Shepard Shop (9423 Shepard Rd SE, Calgary, AB, T2C 4R6). Pipefitter plays a vital role in mounting majors and assembling small-bore and large-bore piping systems according to drawings on various skidded packages. Reporting to the Assembly Supervisor, work is completed by reading and interpreting P&IDs, GA’s and Piping Specifications. Additionally, they may mentor apprentices for skill development.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Registered 3rd or 4th year Apprentice or Journeyperson Pipefitter
• 1-2 years of previous experience working in a fabrication or manufacturing environment
• A team player with good organizational skills and excellent communication skills

KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS (KPI):

ASSEMBLY

• Installation and placement of major equipment.
• Installation and support of spooling.
• Skid layout for small bore piping.
• Fitting of the socket and screwed small bore pipe.
• Read, interpret and red-line construction drawings and blueprints (Isometrics, P&ID's, G.A.’s)
• Tack welding experience is an asset
