Job description

Overview:

We are seeking an Apprentice Millwright to join our team and learn the trade of industrial machinery maintenance and repair. As an Apprentice Millwright, you will assist experienced Millwrights in troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining equipment. You will learn to read blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals while working in a fast-paced environment and receiving on-the-job training to become a skilled professional in Millwrighting.

Responsibilities:
  1. Assist experienced Millwrights in maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing industrial equipment such as conveyors, pumps, compressors, and motors.
  2. Learn to diagnose and troubleshoot equipment malfunctions using technical manuals, schematics, and blueprints.
  3. Use hand and power tools to dismantle, repair, and reassemble machinery.
  4. Fabricate and install new parts and equipment as needed.
  5. Perform preventative maintenance to ensure machinery operates optimally.
  6. Align, level, and calibrate machinery to meet industry standards.
  7. Maintain a clean and organized work area, ensuring proper storage of tools and equipment.
  8. Follow safety protocols and wear personal protective equipment at all times.
  9. Attend training sessions and classes to enhance skills and knowledge.
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Basic understanding of mechanical systems and principles.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and blueprints.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Comfortable working with hand and power tools.
  • Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Willingness to learn and adhere to safety protocols.
  • Strong communication skills and teamwork ability.
  • Availability for flexible hours, including overtime and weekends if necessary.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
Experience and Skill Set:
  • Minimum two (2) years of heavy manufacturing/mining experience.
  • Commitment to safety.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Experience operating heavy equipment, such as loaders, is an asset.
  • Proficiency in welding, fabrication, and rigging.
  • Willingness to work overtime, weekends, and evenings as required.
  • Ability to walk and stand for extended periods.
