Job description

Position Summary
Apprentice Ironworkers assist in laying out, installing, and fabricating structural steel in live and greenfield environments. Responsibilities include cutting steel, interpreting blueprints, rigging, directing cranes, assisting welders, and setting structural steel.

Project Details
  • Projects located in the Fort St. John area
  • Local candidates preferred
  • LOA provided for non-local candidates
  • $500/shift travel allowance
  • 15/6 rotation with potential for longer outage shifts
Core Accountabilities
  • Read blueprints and specifications to plan work
  • Assemble and erect prefabricated structural supports
  • Signal crane operators to position steel units according to plan
  • Erect and install, hoist, install equipment, and rigging
  • Position steel units, align holes, and insert temporary bolts
  • Unload and install pre-cast components
  • Perform physically demanding tasks such as lifting and moving structural steel/plates, standing for extended periods, and securing steel in hard-to-reach areas
  • Identify, initiate, and assist in issue resolution processes
  • Recognize and demonstrate safe usage of power tools and hand tools
  • Perform other labor duties as required
Qualifications
Education
  • Must be a registered Apprentice with the appropriate provincial or federal authority
Skills, Knowledge, & Abilities
  • Pass pre-employment drug & alcohol testing
  • Able to lift 50 pounds
  • Comfortable working outdoors
  • Comfortable working in confined spaces
