Qualifications

  • Registered Heavy Duty Equipment Apprentice, preferably 3rd or 4th year.
  • 1-2 years of prior heavy-duty mechanical experience preferred.

Position Overview:

We are currently looking for a knowledgeable and skilled Apprentice Equipment Technician! The Apprentice Heavy Equipment Technician is primarily responsible for assisting in the maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of fleet vehicles and equipment including concrete trucks, pick-up trucks, and off-road equipment.

Requirements:

  • Perform preventative and predictive maintenance on fleet vehicles under the guidance of a Journeyman HET.
  • Participate in troubleshooting and repairing concrete trucks, pick-up trucks, and off-road equipment.
  • Communicate with the parts team to order, supply, and receive parts for repairs in quickly and efficiently.
  • Complete daily work orders timely and accurately to ensure all maintenance and repair activities are documented.
  • Communicate with drivers regarding maintenance and repair of trucks.
  • Assist Journeymen HETs with CVIP completion on an annual basis.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area at all times.
  • Turn off and lock out equipment when not in use.
  • Order, pick-up, and deliver parts as required.
  • Participate in safety programing including preforming pre/post trip in sections, wearing PPE, attending safety meetings, etc.
  • Preform general labour as required.
  • Other duties as required.

Qualifications:

  • Registered Heavy Duty Equipment Apprentice, preferably either a 3rd or 4th year Apprentice
  • Valid drivers license and clean drivers abstract.
  • Previous experience working in the construction, concrete, or a related industry is an asset.
  • 1-2 years of prior heavy-duty mechanical experience dealing with large fleet vehicles such as concrete trucks is preferred.
  • Previous experience working with off-road equipment is an asset, including pneumatic equipment.

Hours of Work:

Typical shifts are 10 hours in length and start between the hours of 5AM and 2PM. Overtime, evenings, nights and weekends may be required dependant on business needs

Physical Demands:
This is moderately strenuous work. Mechanics frequently lift material up to 30 pounds. Machinery and tools require frequent and consistent exertion on arms, hands, and fingers.Work environment is typically indoors in a shop environment; however, mechanics are frequently outdoors pulling in fleet vehicles or even driving out onto job sites, freeways, or roads with service truck for emergency truck repairs.

Applicants will be required to undergo a pre-employment drug, alcohol, and fit for work testing as a condition of employment.
