Job summary

Energy Crane Service is seeking a 2nd or 3rd year Heavy-Duty Apprentice Technician to join our service team in Stony Plain, Alberta. You will help maintain, repair, and diagnose crane and equipment systems to ensure safe, reliable operation.

Based in a shop/field environment with occasional travel, you will service cranes, trucks and trailers, read schematics, perform diagnostics, and mentor junior apprentices while maintaining safety and accurate documentation.

Qualifications

• Registered Apprentice Heavy Equipment Certification with interest in crane repair.
• 2nd, 3rd, or 4th year apprentice with 1–2 years field experience.
• Experience with cranes, trucks and trailers is preferred.
• Ability to read hydraulic and electrical schematics.
• Class 5 licence with clean driving record.

Responsibilities

• Experience with tractor, trailer and mobile crane equipment preferred.
• Service cranes, trucks and trailers (fluid checks, oil and filter checks, lubrication).
• Engage with operators to identify equipment faults.
• Troubleshoot, inspect, and diagnose cranes and transport equipment.
• Order parts and follow up to ensure timely service completion.
• Collaborate with other technicians and mentor apprentices.
• Maintain CVOR logbooks and daily vehicle checks.
• Read and interpret hydraulic/electrical schematics and perform data bus troubleshooting.
• Upload and address software (sensors).
• Assemble/disassemble repairs in prescribed sequences.
