Job summary

Intact is seeking an Auto Field Appraiser to join our team in Canada. You will inspect vehicles, determine damage causes, and approve repair estimates. You may set vehicle values and use Audatex/Mitchell to standardize estimates. Collaboration with claims and shop owners is essential to deliver quality outcomes.

You will negotiate repairs while maintaining productivity and service quality, aligning with Intact's values and pension and bonus programs.

Responsibilities

• Determine causes and origin of vehicle damage by inspecting vehicles with a software tool.
• Assess and approve repair estimates by comparing estimates to examinations.
• May establish market value of vehicles using appraisers' standards and tools.
• Use digital evaluation systems to standardize repair estimates and reduce errors.
• Negotiate best repair practices and communicate recommendations.
• Ensure productivity and service quality per the department's objectives.

Salary Range (but Not Limited To)

69,200 - 84,600

Annual Bonus Target, Based On The Base Salary, With a Potential Payout Of Up To Double The Target (subject To Personal And Company Performance)

About The Role

We’re looking for an Auto Field Appraiser to join our growing team!

What You'll Do Here

• Determine the causes and origin of damage that occurred during an accident by examining the vehicle using a software application. Claims handled will be of varying degrees of complexity depending on the incumbent's experience.
• Assess and approve repair estimates for claims adjusters, by comparing the estimate to the assessment made on examination of the vehicle.
• May be called upon to establish the market value of vehicles based on the information provided by claims adjusters, using the various tools outlined in the appraisers' standards and procedures manual.
• Use digital automated evaluation systems to standardize repair estimates and avoid errors.
• Negotiate and communicate a best repair practice or procedure.
• Ensure productivity and service quality, using the appraisers' standards and procedures manual and relating performance to the Claims Department's quantitative and qualitative objectives.

What You Bring To The Table

• College Diploma or University Degree or equivalent Trade's person licence or any combination of equivalent education and experience.
• Collision estimating or repair experience, including knowledge of estimating software (Audatex and Mitchell).
• Comprehensive knowledge of the principles and techniques of automobile physical damage repairs and replacement.
• Commitment to continuing education.
• Minimum 3-5 years experience in the collision repair industry
• Strong analytical skills to define problems/issues, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
• Ability to prepare auto repair estimates using Audatex.
• Estimating Software and have open communications with shop owners, managers and appraisers during the appraisal process.
• Effective verbal communication skills and good written communication skills to draft claims reports.
• Must be customer driven.
