Job Description

SAMA is the recognized leader and authority on property assessment, and Saskatchewan's service provider of choice. SAMA develops, regulates, and delivers a stable, cost-effective assessment system that is accurate, up-to-date, universal, equitable and understandable.

This competition will establish an Applicant Pool which will be used to fill Appraiser positions that become vacant throughout any of our eight locations in Saskatchewan for a period of six (6) months. In your application, please identify your location(s) of interest from the following regional offices: Melfort, Moose Jaw, North Battleford, Regina, Saskatoon, Swift Current, Weyburn, Yorkton.

Position Overview:

The successful candidate will join SAMA’s Assessment Services Division in a full-time position and can expect to be working in both a field and office environment. Typical responsibilities of an Appraiser will include:

  1. Collecting and verifying assessment valuation and sales data through physical inspection of property and interviews with property owners;
  2. Applying mass appraisal principles and procedures to determine values of residential, commercial, and industrial properties;
  3. Inputting and processing collected valuation data into the Agency’s mass appraisal computer system;
  4. Researching and responding to enquiries from the general public and government officials.

Required Qualifications and Skills:

  1. Formal assessment education, a university degree or a post-secondary diploma from a recognized institution.
  2. Excellent public relations and communication skills.
  3. Ability to exercise good judgement to make sound decisions.
  4. Intermediate level of proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (e.g. Word, Excel, Outlook).
  5. A valid class five (5) driver’s licence are position requirements.

Both a cover letter and resume will be used in the screening process.

Candidates under consideration may be required to participate in a numeracy, mathematical, and/or computer proficiency assessment to determine position suitability.

For external candidates, employment with the Saskatchewan Assessment Management Agency is contingent upon the successful completion of a criminal record check.

Salary: $56,290 - $83,460 annually. Salary will be based on education and experience.
