Job summary

Amazon Development Centre Canada ULC is hiring an Applied Scientist to advance on-device AI for Alexa connections, focusing on private, cloud-free personalisation and edge intelligence. You will research, develop, and deploy models that run locally, balancing performance with memory constraints on edge devices.

The role involves close collaboration with hardware, systems, and product teams to translate research into production features and to push state-of-the-art capabilities for offline,

Qualifications

• Master's degree or higher in computer science, electrical engineering, or related field.
• Knowledge of programming languages such as C/C++, Python, Java or Perl.
• 2+ years of experience in ML, deep learning, speech/NLU, or on-device AI.
• Experience with ML frameworks such as PyTorch or TensorFlow.
• Experience developing and deploying ML models in on-device inference, model optimization, speech/audio, NLU, or LLMs.

Responsibilities

• Research, develop, and deploy the next generation of on-device AI for communication.
• Design on-device arbitration systems routing between local and cloud inference.
• Collaborate with hardware, systems, and product teams to co-design models for target devices.
