$125,500 - $154,000 CAD

The pay details posted reflect a temporary market premium specific to this role that is reassessed annually.

Job Description

As an Applied Machine Learning Scientist II you will contribute towards ML evolution at TD. You will be responsible for developing and managing statistical and ML models used to help detect and prevent Fraud at TD.

This role offers an excellent opportunity to apply your technical skills to real world challenges and see your work positively impact colleague and customer experience. You will be expected to work with multiple business partners to advance the use of Machine Learning and AI for Fraud detection at TD.

Key Accountabilities

  • Develop, and maintain Machine Learning models to support fraud detection capabilities of TD Bank
  • Collaborate with Model Risk Management and other control partners to ensure developed models are effective, stable, and unbiased.
  • Explore new data features that can help enrich TD's fraud detection capability
  • Develop and support ongoing model monitoring work for the existing model inventory to ensure sustained performance.
  • Participate in management committees, employee recognition and volunteer events.

Job Requirements

Communication & relationship skills:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication.

  • Ability to develop and maintain strong internal relationships with several stakeholders.
  • Ability to translate complex/technical terms and concepts into easy-to-understand business language.

Strategic Thinking & Judgment

  • Creative, out-of-the-box thinker, with strong conceptual and problem-solving skills.
  • Motivated to constantly strive to find innovative ways to enhance processes and analytical solutions.
  • Capable of quickly uncovering potential drivers for model performance variation to inform life-cycle management decisions.

Technical Competencies

  • Demonstrated experience of developing classical and ML-oriented models like Logistic Regression, Lasso and Ridge regularization, bagging and boosting models, and advanced modeling algorithms including neural networks.
  • Well-developed analytical abilities: must be comfortable with data and statistics.
  • Proficient with Python coding
  • Experience with SQL, Azure Cloud and Azure ML Services is an asset
  • Fraud modelling experience strongly preferred

Education & Experience

  • Undergraduate degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, Math, or modeling related discipline such as Economics or Finance.
  • Graduate degree is considered an asset.
  • 5+ years of relevant experience preferred.
