Job summary

Vector Institute seeks Machine Learning Associates to join the FastLane MLA Program in Canada, matched with SMEs to work on Generative AI and Agentic AI projects. MLAs will design, develop, and deliver proof-of-concept solutions in small teams to address real-world business challenges.

The four-month cohort supports career growth and AI adoption, with mentorship from Vector’s Technical Advisors. Start date January 18, 2027 and end date May 7, 2027; remote, hybrid, or onsite work; full-time

Qualifications

• Enrolled in an AI-focused Master’s or PhD in Canada or supervised by a Vector Institute Faculty Member.
• Completed at least one ML project involving design, development, and deployment in academic or professional setting.
• Proficient in Python programming.
• Knowledge of Generative AI and Agentic AI concepts (prompt engineering, fine-tuning, autonomous agents, memory and tools integration).
• Hands-on experience with ML frameworks and tools for multimodal AI and agentic workflows (TensorFlow, PyTorch, OpenAI APIs or equivalents, Transformers library, LangChain, Streamlit or Gradio).
• Experience deploying AI solutions in real-world or production environments.
• Experience with LLM application frameworks, backend deployment (FastAPI), and cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure) is a plus.
• Available for the full duration of the cohort; up to 20 hours/week part-time or full-time as required.

Responsibilities

• Frame AI problems with business needs and map to AI solutions.
• Develop, test, and deploy proof-of-concept AI solutions for client SMEs.
• Deploy AI solutions on company-provided infrastructure (GCP, AWS, Azure).
• Deliver documentation including a showcase day presentation and final report.
• Coordinate with Vector Institute advisors and client teams to ensure value delivery.
• Support AI adoption through learning sessions and office hours.
