CMP(Charlottetown Metal Products)is a dynamic and growing stainless steel equipment manufacturer delivering design, fabrication, and installation services and turn-key solutions to our food processing customers. As a division of FPS (Food Process Solutions), we serve customers across Canada, The United States, and Internationally.

In October 2023 CMP announced an expansion to our Global Innovation Center located on our PEI Campus. This is an exciting new investment in innovation for FPS and CMP.

You will work alongside and compliment our talented team of over 160 engineers, designers, technical sales, and fabricator/welders. You will have an opportunity to grow your knowledge of project management and machinery design and leverage that knowledge to build strength in hygienic design of food processing equipment. CMP is constantly innovating and contributing to more advanced hygienic designs to exceed client needs. We engineer food safety in everything we do.

Position Scope:

FPS provides turnkey complete End to End processing lines for our customers around the world. The Applications Specialist, End to End Process Lines will work alongside industry experts to design complete food processing lines tailored to our customers’ requirements, assemble budget and prepare professional proposals for our customers.

Key Responsibilities:

• Review and interpret customer requirements, client bid packages, scope information and drawings.
• Design/configure our proposed equipment, complete with FPS fabricated equipment and buyouts from other OEMs.
• Collaborate with internal and external teams to ensure our proposed process line is functional, cost-effective, efficient and meets customer requirements.
• Create 2D or 3D technical equipment and layout sales drawings.
• Complete a cost study of the project.
• Prepare professional proposals and bid documents.
• Handoff won projects to our Project Management Office.
• Maintain and update design templates, tools and records.
• Assist in drafting analysis reports, including tables/charts or other sales support documentation as required.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field.
• Strong proficiency in AutoCAD 2D Drafting.
• Able to quickly learn and understand mechanical/engineering concepts, equipment function and basic principles of physics.
• Capable of clearly articulating ideas and project details in both written and verbal forms.
• Able to pay attention and focus on small details – which can have a large impact on the overall solution we are providing.
• Able to quickly grasp project requirements and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Proactive in engaging with team members and committed to meeting timelines.
• Desire and ability to absorb new concepts, technologies, knowledge and processes.
• Ability to analyze/process multiple pieces of information and solve for the best engineering solution.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment. Able to effectively mentor and coach APP-1s, increasing their technical knowledge and technical ability.
• Familiarity with Word, Excel, Teams and other essential software tools.

Asset Skills and Qualifications:

• Hands-on knowledge of food processing, mechanical equipment design, sales, project estimation, proposal writing, equipment manufacturing, P&IDs and refrigeration.
• Ideal candidate will have experience within the following industries:
  • Experience within Potato / French Fry processing.
  • Experience within Vegetable, Fruit processing.
  • Experience within Meat, Poultry or Seafood processing.
  • Languages: Proficiency in multiple languages, in addition to English, is advantageous.

• Candidates applying for positions with the title 'Engineer' must be licensed or eligible for licensure with Engineers PEI.
