Job summary

Weir, a global mining technology leader, is seeking an Application Engineer in Canada with a hybrid work arrangement and a Mississauga preference. You will review customer requirements, perform equipment selections, and develop technical-commercial proposals to meet project schedules.

Travel across Canada for end-user meetings, collaborate with capital and aftermarket sales teams, and provide ongoing technical support.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Engineering degree in Mechanical, Process, or Metallurgical required.
• Proven ability to review and interpret technical specifications and develop technical-commercial proposals.
• Customer-facing experience with strong communication and problem-solving skills.
• Knowledge of equipment selection processes, especially pumps, valves, and hydraulic systems.

Responsibilities

• Solution Development: Review customer requirements, RFQs, and operational challenges to develop technically sound and commercially competitive equipment proposals aligned with project schedules and customer needs.
• Equipment Selection: Perform detailed pump, valve, and piping system selections based on technical specifications and customer operational requirements, ensuring optimal fit and performance.
• Customer & Sales Collaboration: Partner closely with capital and aftermarket sales teams to understand customer problems, maintain prompt communication, and build strong relationships that adapt to changing market demands.
• Proposal Management: Assemble comprehensive technical and commercial proposal packages, including evaluation of sourcing and delivery options, ensuring accuracy in project costing and timely updates in sales pipeline systems.
• Technical Support: Provide ongoing technical assistance to customers and frontline sales teams, reviewing specifications for compliance and documenting technical exceptions where necessary.
• Travel Requirements: Occasional travel across Canada to meet with end users and support project delivery, reflecting the coast-to-coast nature of the mining industry.
