Job summary

Powell Canada Inc. in Edmonton is seeking an Estimator/Applications Engineer to develop detailed, compliant proposals and cost estimates for switchgear and electrical buildings.

You will collaborate with sales and execution teams to ensure accurate pricing and responsive bids, leveraging your knowledge of local codes and industry standards. Based in our Electrical Division Edmonton (EDE) location, this permanent, on-site role reports to the Estimating Supervisor and offers growth, training, and

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or a CET designation.
• Valid Journeyman Ticket is considered an asset.
• Familiarity with Metal Building Systems and Electrical Switchgear is an asset.
• 1–3 years of estimating experience is considered an asset.
• Experience with vendors and components for power distribution, motors, process control, and lighting projects.

Responsibilities

• Reviews project documentation to understand technical and commercial requirements.
• Develops detailed proposals and ensures compliance with specifications and codes.
• Provides comments to convey Powell’s compliance and clarifications to customers.
• Creates Basis of Estimate and Basis of Schedule documents to accompany the estimate.
• Provides technical leadership to supporting departments and stakeholders.
• Facilitates estimating tools and processes across project teams for accurate proposals.
• Prepares and presents proposal overviews to clients and internal stakeholders.
• Analyzes cost data with production and engineering teams to refine labor/material factors.
