Job summary

Senior Java Developer

The Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Senior Java Developer to spearhead the development of robust, scalable, and innovative enterprise applications. Your Responsibilities

Technical Leadership & Strategy

• Lead Feasibility & Estimation: Conduct feasibility studies, provide accurate time and cost estimates, and define the scope for new application systems and programs.
• Act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME): Serve as a go‑to expert for Java development, advising senior stakeholders and team members on best practices, architectural decisions, and complex technical challenges.
• Drive System Improvements: Analyze complex problems, evaluate business and system processes against industry standards, and make evaluative judgments to recommend and implement improvements.
• Ensure Security & Compliance: Recommend and develop security measures in post‑implementation analysis and ensure all solutions comply with applicable laws, rules, and regulations.

Development & Implementation

• End-to-End Ownership: Monitor and control all phases of the development process, including analysis, design, construction, testing, and implementation.
• Build & Maintain Applications: Develop, test, and deploy new or revised applications to meet specific business needs and user requirements.
• Provide Technical Support: Offer user and operational support on applications, and consult with users, clients, and other technology groups to resolve issues and recommend advanced programming solutions.
• Define Standards: Ensure essential procedures are followed and contribute to defining and refining operating standards and processes for the development team.

Mentorship & Collaboration

• Coach & Mentor: Serve as an advisor and coach to new or junior developers, helping them grow their skills and careers.
• Collaborate Across Teams: Work closely with business users, product owners, and other technology teams to ensure alignment and successful project delivery.

Required Qualifications & Skills

• Experience: 5+ years of professional Java development experience, with substantial exposure to cloud-based environments and distributed systems.
• Core Java Expertise: Expert-level command of Java, J2EE, RESTful API design, and cloud engineering principles.
• Frameworks: Hands‑on experience building production‑grade services using Spring and Spring Boot.
• Databases: Solid database experience with relational systems (e.g., Oracle, SQL) and familiarity with NoSQL technologies (e.g., MongoDB).
• Cloud & Messaging: Practical experience with cloud-native platforms like OpenShift and Kubernetes, and messaging technologies such as MQ and Kafka.
• Software Craftsmanship: A deep commitment to clean code principles, design patterns, and test‑driven development (TDD) practices that produce maintainable, production‑ready software.
• Agile & DevOps: Fluency in Agile methodologies and the full software development lifecycle, with hands‑on experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines.
• Leadership: Demonstrated ability to lead technical delivery autonomously, manage competing priorities, and perform effectively under pressure in a fast‑paced environment.

Education

• Bachelor’s degree/University degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
