Job summary

HIS Canada Travel Inc., a division of the H.I.S. Group, is a leading Canadian travel company. We seek an application support specialist with a background in IT support and travel systems to troubleshoot issues, document processes, and collaborate with business units and vendors.

The role offers remote/hybrid work, 37.5 hours per week, and a benefits package including medical/dental and RRSP contributions. You will engage with executives and support ongoing implementations while providing

Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years in an application/support role.
  • Minimum 2 years in a technical support role.
  • College or University degree or certificate in Computer Science or equivalent in an IT related field.

Responsibilities

  • Apply advanced subject matter knowledge to business issues as an SME for applications.
  • Investigate and troubleshoot application problems; liaise with business, vendors and IT groups for timely resolution.
  • Contribute to development of new ideas, methods and processes for supported business units.
  • Provide guidance to Business Analysts and other IT staff.
  • Support merge back / TTS emulators as needed.
  • Review reports (test bookings, failed bookings, QA reports, etc.).
  • Write and maintain application support documents.
  • Occasional after-hours support during implementations.
  • Some on-call support as required.
  • All other duties as assigned by management.

Job description

  • Investigation and troubleshooting of application problems and liaising with business, vendors and IT groups for timely resolution
  • Contribute to the development of new ideas, methods and processes for the supported business units
  • Provide guidance to Business Analyst and other IT staff
  • Provide support on merge back / TTS emulators
  • Review different reports (test bookings, failed bookings, QA reports, etc.)
  • Write and/or maintain application Support documents
  • Occasional after-hours support (including evenings & weekends) during implementations
  • Some on-call support as required
  • All other duties as assigned by management
Specialized Knowledge, Skills, and Attributes Required to be Successful
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in an application support role
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in a technical support role
  • College or University degree or certificate in Computer Science or equivalent in an IT related field
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Suite of products
  • Strong conceptual, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • High level of personal energy and ability to maintain that activity level under conditions of time, pressure and stress
  • Sensitivity to and skilled in satisfying customer needs and concerns
  • Excellent communications skills, both written and verbal (this will involve communicating with business staff, management and executive teams as well as vendors)
  • Very good knowledge of travel systems
