ABOUT THE POSITION
The Application Owner is a critical role within the IT department and acts as primary contact for business stakeholders and IT teams. This role is responsible for the overall performance and full cycle project management of the assigned applications including overseeing the assigned BA work. The Application Owner ensures all applications meets the full business needs at SkilledTradesBC while adhering to strict compliance and security standards. This role is responsible for defining vision, conceptualizing changes and technical solution and articulating the value for different stakeholders. This role is responsible for communicating changes to stakeholders and manage escalations that may arise. The Application Owner facilitates discussions and workshops then translates business requirements into technical documents.
RESPONSIBILITIES/ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Define and maintain the product backlog, prioritizing features and enhancements based on business value.
- Ensure a thorough understanding of the application’s out-of-the-box capabilities and drive system configurations accordingly.
- Oversee the entire software development lifecycle and ensure that the best practices are being followed by internal Business Analysts, development teams and external vendors
- Lead user acceptance testing (UAT) processes, defining test cases and overseeing execution.
- Act as scrum-master if needed for the applications and facilitate daily scrums with multiple teams and vendors
- Collaborate with technical teams to design and validate solutions using out-of-the-box functionality and customizations when necessary.
- Conduct stakeholder workshops, gather and analyze business requirements to ensure applications meet user needs.
- Act as an advocate for best practices in product management and integration/usage of the platform within SkilledTradesBC technology ecosystem.
- Establish and maintain system testing procedures, documentation and ensure test scripts are kept up to date
- Coach business analysts on system functions, support in their onboarding and ongoing application knowledge.
- Manage escalations and complex system issues
- Prepare strategic roadmaps to ensure that application aligns with business goals, IT strategies and priorities thus delivering value to the organization and our customers
- Keep up to date on new functionalities and updates being rolled out by the vendor and implement functionality that add value to SkilledTradesBC business units
- Create sprints, run deployments and manage application releases and assigned as needed
- Collaborate with business units to understand their needs, align application solutions with their expectations, and foster positive, effective communication and cooperation.
- Ensure vendor alignment with business needs and maintain strong, cooperative relationships.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
- A post-secondary degree in Computer Science, Business Administration, or a related field is required; a master’s degree is preferred
- A combination of education and/or sufficient experience is necessary to perform all aspects of the position successfully
- 10+ years of experience in software development life cycle (SDLC) and enterprise applications
- A minimum of 5 years’ experience in business analysis and process improvement
- Experience in creating requirements management and process redesign for digital transformation
- Experience in successful change management project delivery
- Strong understanding of Agile methodology
- Proficiency with Microsoft 365 tools including Office365, SharePoint online, Teams, MS Visio etc.
- Technical savvy to understand System integrations, API’s and Integration hub
- Ability to create, understand and suggest improvements on requirements and testing documents
- Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 products, including Customer Service Module is an asset
- Business acumen and experience working in the public sector or crown corporations is an asset
- Knowledge and experience writing and understanding SQL queries is preferred
- Knowledge and Experience of CRM or ERP systems is preferred. For example: D365
- Experience with process flows systems such as Posse is desirable
- Ability to create, understand and suggest improvements on Solution/Technical design documents
Certification:
- CBAP (Certified Business Analysis Professional) is required
COMPENSATION
Salary Band E: $80,756 - $109,259
