Job description

Are you a highly motivated and skilled Application Engineer looking to make a significant impact in the mining industry? Reporting to the Principal Engineering Team Lead, you will be part of our product development initiatives. You'll work on diverse functions from project initiation and design to validation and customer support. This role is perfect for someone passionate about delivering technical excellence and eager for continuous growth and learning.

About You

You are a driven Application Engineer with a passion for problem-solving. You excel at providing technical support, understanding customer needs, and translating those needs into effective solutions. With a keen eye for detail and a strong analytical mindset, you are adept at investigating market trends and identifying opportunities for innovation. You possess good communication and interpersonal skills, allowing you to collaborate effectively with sales teams, senior engineers, and customers. You can work under pressure, manage deadlines, and maintain a customer-centric focus.

The Role

You will be a vital link between our customers and our product development team. Your core responsibilities will include:

  1. Customer-Centric Technical Support: Provide strong technical support to our customers, actively listening to their challenges and communicating them to the engineering team.
  2. Building Ownership and Engineering Analysis: Analyze technical aspects of projects from initiation to completion, including collecting reverse engineering data, reviewing specifications, and generating concept designs and models.
  3. Design and Validation: Contribute to the creation of detailed designs, conduct product trials, and provide performance feedback on both new and existing products.
  4. On-site Presence: Be prepared for significant travel (up to 75%) to various mine sites in Edmonton or Fort McMurray, and USA locations to assist with new installations and technical support.
  5. Documentation and Reporting: Generate reports for site visits, create product case studies, and assist with technical presentations for internal and external stakeholders.

Key Criteria

  1. Technical Skills: Proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD 2D and 3D modeling, NX). Experience with Teamcenter or similar PLM systems is highly desirable.
  2. Industry Experience: Experience working within heavy manufacturing, foundry, or mining environments.
  3. Customer Focus: Ability to understand customer needs and provide effective, innovative solutions.
  4. Travel Flexibility: Willingness and ability to travel up to 75% to various mine sites.
  5. Engineering Knowledge: Strong understanding of engineering documents, specifications, and manufacturing processes.
  6. Focus Areas: Supporting Electric Rope Shovels, Hydraulic Excavators, Crawler Systems, Buckets, and GET product lines.

This role can be based in Edmonton or Fort McMurray, Canada.
