Your role and responsibilities

We are seeking an experienced Intermediate z/OS Mainframe Developer with at least 5-10 years of professional experience in z/OS application development, maintenance, and modernization. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, coding, testing, and deploying high-quality applications on the z/OS platform.

Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and maintain z/OS applications using COBOL, PL/I, and assembly language.

• Collaborate with business analysts, architects, and other developers to understand requirements and translate them into technical solutions.

• Participate in the analysis, design, and implementation of new features and enhancements.

• Conduct unit testing, debugging, and troubleshooting of applications.

• Contribute to the modernization of legacy applications, leveraging contemporary technologies and methodologies.

• Document technical specifications, code, and design decisions.

• Stay current with emerging trends and best practices in z/OS application development.

• Mentor junior developers and contribute to knowledge sharing within the team.

Required technical and professional expertise

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.

• Minimum of 2-4 years of professional experience in z/OS application development.

• Extensive knowledge of z/OS operating system, JCL, DB2, and IMS.

• Proficiency in COBOL, PL/I, and assembly language programming.

• Experience with version control systems (e.g., SCM, Git).

• Familiarity with DevOps tools (e.g., Jenkins, UCD) and practices.

• Strong understanding of software development methodologies, including Agile and Waterfall.

• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

• Strong communication and interpersonal abilities, with a knack for explaining complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

• Professional certifications (e.g., IBM Certified Application Developer - z/OS) are a plus.
