IBM is seeking an Agentic AI Engineer Intern based in Toronto for a 4-month term starting January 2027. You’ll collaborate with clients to design, build, and test AI agents on the Microsoft stack, using Foundry Agent Service, Semantic Kernel, and Azure AI tools.

Your role and responsibilities
As an Agentic AI Engineer Intern at IBM, you'll work with clients to co-create solutions to major real-world challenges by using best practice technologies, tools, techniques, and products to translate business requirements into the design, development and evaluation of production-grade AI agents on the Microsoft stack.

You will participate in many aspects of the development lifecycle, such as design, code implementation, testing, evaluation, and support. You will build and test AI agents using Microsoft Foundry Agent Service, the Microsoft Agent Framework and Semantic Kernel; implement retrieval-augmented generation pipelines over enterprise content with Azure AI Search; expose and consume tools through Model Context Protocol servers; and contribute to multi-agent orchestration patterns including planner/worker, supervisor, and human-in-the-loop approval flows. You also could become a contributor within Open-Source communities across multiple disciplines.

This position resides in Toronto and is a 4-month work term commencing in January 2027. All applicants must be eligible to work full-time in Canada and enrolled full-time in an eligible post-secondary program. It is mandatory that applicants return to full-time studies upon completion of the work term. Candidates pursuing Bachelor's or Master's degrees are eligible. MBA and PhD candidates are not eligible for this opportunity.

The salary range for the position is based on a full-time schedule. Your ultimate salary within this range may vary depending on your job-related skills and experience for this position.
