Job description

Our client a leading financial institution inDowntown Toronto,is looking for an Application Developer – Advanced to develop web-based solutions for the IS business. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work with one of the Top 5 Banks in Canada.

Typical Day in role:

• Code, test and debug new software or enhancements to existing software
• Produce high quality code which is functional and maintainable
• Participate in the development process for gathering requirements, implementing and releasing applications
• Design and develop internal business systems/applications or takes primary role in smaller, low risk projects
• Interact with business sponsors to help gather requirements
• Assist the first line support team in supporting the eCommerce suite of applications
• Assist team members in solving technical issues with programs and applications
• Ability to design & build prototype systems unaided (without project management, analyst or development support)

Must-Have Skills:

• 4+ years of relevant experience in development
• Interest in Data and Financial Markets, or willingness to learn
• Prior experience being a lead developer or senior-level developer on projects, driving key delivery and results
• Ability to take ownership and be accountable for technical deliveries
• Provide full-stack development coverage, and learning on the job to manage user expectations and change management

Nice-To-Have Skills:

• Be part of Business-led lean development processes
• Financial institution knowledge
• Exposure/experience in our tech stack technologies

Soft Skills Required:

• Interpersonal skills to be able to interface effectively with a broad range of contacts, from technical staff to management.

Education:

• Bachelor of Computer Science or higher from an accredited university
