What you'll be doing

CIBC's Digital Technology API Testing team is dedicated to ensuring the quality of our flagship client-facing applications. Our team is responsible for end-to-end testing of eBanking’s RESTful API services. We are currently seeking a API Testing Lead who will provide technical leadership and guidance with a Quality Engineering mindset. The successful candidate will have a robust background in Quality Assurance, specifically with hands-on experience in API testing for both Web and Mobile applications. In this role, the API Testing Lead will troubleshoot issues at all levels, identify appropriate testing approaches, and incorporate these methods into the overall testing plan. They will also be responsible for executing assigned test work packages and leading testing teams effectively. This position demands independent judgment and decision-making capabilities, particularly in managing project milestones.

How you'll succeed

  • Testing expertise – Lead the investigation and translation of business requirements into test cases. Design and manage end-to-end testing activities for various projects across the business. Use your expertise in software development testing to provide clients with quality products that meet business and system requirements. Oversee testing activities for various projects and initiatives, ensuring compliance with established controls and standards. Develop project test strategies and plans.
  • Leadership skills – Provide advice to your team, including ongoing feedback, support, and mentorship. Proactively identify any potential issues throughout all test phases, and suggest possible improvements or enhancements. Addressing complex issues across multiple technical areas.
  • Project coordination – Identify obstacles or risks that may impact a project’s timeline or success and provide regular status updates to the business. Keep the lines of communication open with stakeholders, and escalate issues when necessary. Ensure that all test deliverables are received, approved, and aligned to your project’s timeline, budget and goals. The candidate will analyze and resolve unique testing challenges, facilitating informed decision-making with clients and senior management.
