Job summary

RBC is seeking an experienced Quality Engineering Lead to drive QE practices and automate testing for Emerging Payments applications. You will lead QA engineers, define end-to-end QE strategies, and collaborate across development, DevOps, and product teams to improve automation, quality, and reliability.

The role requires strong API/test automation experience, cloud exposure, and leadership to mentor the team in a high-visibility environment in Toronto.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in Quality Engineering, software engineering, or test automation, with backend/API testing focus.
• 2+ years of test automation experience using modern tools and frameworks.
• Experience with functional, integration, regression, end-to-end, and API testing.
• Hands-on experience designing and maintaining test automation frameworks.
• Experience with API automation using TestNG on a Hybrid Automation framework.
• Proficiency with REST/HTTP tooling and API test design, plus data validation.

Responsibilities

• Lead and drive QE practices and automation testing across complex systems.
• Define end-to-end QE and test automation strategies for functional, API, and regression testing.
• Validate API functionality by testing RESTful/SOAP endpoints against specs.
• Inspect and validate JSON/XML payloads and manipulate data as needed.
• Design, develop, and maintain automated test scripts for integration and regression testing.
• Write complex SQL queries to verify backend data mutations and retrievals.
• Coordinate with DevOps, architects, and product teams to improve automation coverage.
• Mentor team members on automation best practices and contribute to SDLC activities.
