Job summary

City of Toronto is seeking an experienced Animal Services Manager to lead policy development and program delivery across city shelters. You will supervise staff, manage budgets, and ensure compliance with by-laws and provincial rules.

You will partner with other departments and external agencies to promote humane animal care, community safety, and effective service delivery city-wide.

Qualifications

• Post-secondary education in disciplines pertinent to animal services or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Extensive experience working in an animal shelter and enforcement environment.
• Experience delivering animal services and management of animal facilities and operations.
• Experience operating within a regulatory environment at a supervisory level.

Responsibilities

• Develops, reviews, amends and implements policies and procedures.
• Supervises, motivates and trains assigned staff to ensure high standards.
• Manages budget inputs and ensures expenditures stay within limits.
• Represents Toronto Animal Services at tribunals and conferences.
• Liaises with residents, groups and councillors to address needs and deliver programs.
• Implements programs and partnerships to improve service delivery.
