The City of Delta is looking for an auxiliary for our Animal Health Technologist position. This is an auxiliary / casual opportunity with no guarantee of weekly hours. In addition, the Animal Health Technologist will be required to work non-standard hours including evenings and weekends.

The Animal Health Technologist will evaluate the health and well-being of animals in the facility; provide routine examinations and treatments; triage injuries and conditions; determine the need for veterinary consultations or referrals; and liaise with veterinarians to ensure that animals are receiving necessary care and nutrition. The incumbent will also serve as a resource to staff on matters related to animal health and well-being and recommend revised protocols.

The successful candidate will be organized, outgoing, and detail oriented.

Requirements :

  • A high school diploma supplemented by completion of a 2 year diploma program in animal health technology, plus related experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience
  • Registered and in good standing with the BC Veterinary Technologists Association
  • Experience providing care to animals including administering tests, medications and treatments
  • Be legally entitled to work in Canada
  • Have a valid Class 5 driver’s licence and use of you own personal vehicle is required
