Job description

We are currently looking to hire a Full-Time Animal Health Technician at Westexcel Lamb which is our Iron Spring location. This is a Full-Time position working approximately 40 hours per week.

The position schedule will be 7 days on with 2 days off and 8 days on with 4 days off (with flexibility to start and end late). The role of Animal Health Tech. is integral to our operations. This role will directly report to the Farm Manager.

Job Opportunity

  • Check sheep and lambs daily for illness and injuries
  • Identify any sickness
  • Treat the animals with medication when necessary
  • Monitor pregnant ewes for signs of lambing and assist when required, notify Foreman for any assistance
  • Checking pens on regular bases; verify pen integrity and fix any possible breaches
  • Monitor signs of eating disorders and review the overall physical conditions of the flock
  • Follow all biosecurity protocols and ensure SOP'S are adhered for humane treatment of all animals
  • Maintain accurate records of animal health
  • Monitor bedding conditions, assist spread of new one when required
  • Maintain and monitor water bowl for operation and hygiene
  • Euthanize animals when is needed for welfare conditions
  • Communicate with Foreman for any irregularities
  • All other assigned by the manager

Asset

  • Proven history with sheep and lamb industry
