Animal Care Attendant - Surgery

Oakville, ON

Mississauga-Oakville Veterinary Emergency Hospital is currently welcoming for a dependable and outgoing Animal Care Attendant to join our Surgery team. This full-time opportunity is an excellent entry-level position in the veterinary industry! We have ACAs that loved the industry so much they have gone on to become Veterinarians!

Role:

• Caring for our patients; feeding, walking and offering a gentle voice of assurance, assisting with anesthesia recovery, x-rays, prescription refills, processing bloodwork and taking TPRs
• Ensure animal housing or enclosure is clean, sanitary and comfortable
• Create a warm and welcoming atmosphere for patients and pet parents
• Excellent customer service skills; a real aptitude for putting pets and pet parents at ease and creating a welcoming environment with detailed communication
• General housekeeping duties including but not limited to restocking, cleaning
• Willingness to learn more regarding veterinary services, updated medical procedures and neurology specific diseases, testing, handling and care of pets
• Compassionate and nurturing attitude towards pets and pet parents alikeAbility to remain calm in stressful situations and maintain a high quality of care in a busy environment
• Ability to adapt in changing situations
• Working with a team focus, assisting the veterinary staff with various procedures, tasks and treatments
