Animal Care Attendant, Surgery Department
Scarborough, ON

Toronto Veterinary Emergency Hospital is a busy emergency and referral hospital currently seeking an Animal Care Attendant to join its active surgery department. This full-time position involves responsibilities that contribute to the efficient daily operations of the hospital.

Qualifications:

  • Assist with surgery and anesthesia: induction, prep, intra-surgery assistance, radiographs, setup and cleaning of ORs, equipment maintenance, packing, autoclaving, and gas sterilization.
  • Patient care including walking, feeding, and assisting RVTs with restraint during procedures.
  • Provide excellent customer service, creating a welcoming environment for pets and pet parents.
  • Perform general housekeeping duties in pet holding areas, surgical suites, treatment areas, and common areas.
  • Demonstrate excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Maintain excellent attendance and punctuality.
  • Follow written and verbal instructions accurately and execute tasks with attention to detail.
  • Work effectively both independently and as part of a team, remaining calm in emergency situations.
  • Willingness to learn and take on additional duties as needed.
