As an anaesthesiologist at Osler, you will provide services to 25 ORs, 4 operative delivery suites, up to 8 endoscopy rooms, pre-assessment clinics, and the Acute Pain Service across three sites: Brampton Civic Hospital, Etobicoke General Hospital, and Peel Memorial Centre. Future plans include expanding services and enhancing our role in chronic pain management. Successful candidates will participate in a full range of anaesthesiology services both in and out of the OR, including obstetric and general call schedules. Remuneration is fee-for-service as per the OHIP Schedule of Benefits and Fees.
The Osler Anaesthesia Department collaborates with various surgical specialties, including a busy obstetric practice with over 7,000 annual deliveries—the highest in Ontario. Services include thoracic, vascular, orthopaedics, general, plastic, gynaecology, urology, maxillofacial, cardiac electrophysiology, and advanced endoscopy. Our pediatric practice covers ENT, dentistry, and endoscopy. We excel in regional anaesthesia, supported by ultrasound and block room infrastructure. Opportunities exist to develop and expand regional anaesthesia skills.
The department is supported by dedicated Anaesthesia Assistants and Nurse Practitioners. Many staff have extensive teaching experience at all levels. As a teaching site for McMaster University and Toronto Metropolitan University, there are opportunities to participate in medical education, airway skills training, research, and quality improvement initiatives.
