Job Title: Android Engineer

Location: Toronto, ON

Duration: 4-month Contract

Work Type: Remote

Pay Range: $100 - $134.50/Hr

Job Description:

We are seeking a passionate and skilled Android Engineer to join a tiger team formed to accelerate our Rider Android app modernization efforts.

We are adopting a new unidirectional architecture to boost developer productivity and set us up for success.

The candidate should be able to ramp up quickly, deliver high-quality work, and collaborate closely with senior Android engineers from Mobile Infra and product teams.

Our Rider app is used by millions, emphasizing excellent development practices, careful code architecture, and rapid release cycles.

We utilize continuous integration with automated testing for bi-weekly releases, along with analytics, A/B testing, and feature flagging for rapid iteration.

Code reviews, pixel inspections, and thorough testing ensure quality and usability.

Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with senior Android engineers to adopt new APIs, identify blockers, and resolve issues.
• Quickly understand product context, codebase, and architecture, working closely with product team engineers.
• Deliver well-crafted, tested, and maintainable code.
• Participate in code reviews and knowledge sharing.
• Support and unblock team members, fostering a collaborative environment.

Experience:

• Minimum 5+ years of software engineering experience.
• Experience with large-scale Android applications.
• Proficiency in Kotlin; Java experience is a plus.
• Knowledge of architecture paradigms like unidirectional and reactive programming.
• Experience with Jetpack Compose, testing, and shared components.
