What We Need

The Ancillary Contract Manager will assist in the development, management, and execution of the contracting strategy for assigned segments of the Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts ancillary provider network.

This role is eligible for our Flex persona.

Day to Day Responsibilities
  • Develop and negotiate contracting approaches and methodologies to maximize Blue Cross's competitive position and support its strategic vision of making quality health care more affordable.
  • Analyze, negotiate/renegotiate, implement, evaluate, and continuously improve provider contracting functions for a set of ancillary provider networks.
  • Develop rate proposals to support contract negotiations using Excel-based modeling tools.
  • Draft and negotiate contract language.
  • Collaborate with clinical, financial, and legal teams during contract execution and proposal development.
  • Respond to internal and external inquiries regarding provider contractual arrangements for both implementation and ongoing operations.
  • Manage interdepartmental dependencies to ensure timely and accurate resolution of provider issues.
  • Ensure accuracy of contract and rate proposals and their implementation.
  • Encourage innovation and risk-taking.
  • Maintain effective relationships with the provider community.
What You Bring
  • Understanding of provider contract development and healthcare reimbursement strategies.
  • Experience negotiating with providers, especially in clinical laboratories, home infusion therapy, and rehabilitation hospitals.
  • Ability to influence, negotiate, and operate collaboratively within a team.
  • Knowledge of current provider healthcare issues and trends.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, project management, and planning skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • BS/BA degree or equivalent work experience.

Salary Range: $106,920 - $130,680

The posted salary range reflects our good-faith estimate at the time of posting. Final pay will depend on relevant factors including education, experience, and organizational needs. The role is also eligible for variable pay and a comprehensive benefits package including paid time off, insurance, 401(k), and well-being benefits.
