Job Summary
The Vancouver Island Health Authority (Island Health) Department of Laboratory Medicine, Pathology and Medical Genetics is seeking applications for a full time Anatomical Pathologist. General Pathologists may also be considered for this opportunity; however, applicants should be aware all of the work will be in anatomical pathology.
While we are seeking anatomical pathologists who can provide broad coverage, extra training or interest in Dermatopathology or GI pathology is an asset. Based at the North Island Campbell River Hospital (CRG), you will work with a team in the hospital environment, sharing knowledge and collaborating to ensure seamless pathology services within the community and within the Department of Laboratory Medicine as a whole. You will be a member of the Department of Laboratory Medicine, Pathology and Medical Genetics and report to the Department Head Laboratory Medicine and the Division Head Anatomical Pathology.
A typical week for a physician would include providing the following direct services:
The North Island Campbell River Hospital, a 95-bed facility which opened in October 2017, is a regional referral centre for a population of approximately 40,000. In addition to Laboratory services, the hospital has a broad range of consultants including Internal Medicine, Intensive Care, General Surgery, Orthopedic Surgery, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Pediatrics, Otolaryngology, Radiology and Family Medicine.

The physician community is welcoming and collegial with 10 full-service medical clinics and two walk-in clinics. We are currently served by the Island Health run Campbell River Hospital, a new 95-bed acute care facility.

May be eligible for additional remuneration in accordance with the Rural Subsidiary Agreement (RSA) including: Retention Premium 6.09% Relocation Funding Available $15,000 (depending on location) Recruitment Incentive $9,438 Other Benefits/Incentives May be eligible for additional remuneration in accordance with the Rural Subsidiary Agreement (RSA) including: Relocation Costs Reimbursement – to a maximum of $15,000; Recruitment Incentive - up to $10,000; Fee Premium – 6.09% Annual Flat Fee – $9,437.76 Rural CME starting at $3,000/annum in years 3 &4 increasing to a maximum of $6,000/annum after 4 years.
