A health services provider in Alberta is seeking a full-time Anatomical or General Pathologist with a Gastrointestinal Pathology Fellowship. This role involves maintaining high standards of practice, active participation in medical teaching, and collaboration within a dynamic team environment. The successful candidate will join a large group of laboratory professionals at a leading hospital in Alberta.
Alberta Precision Laboratories (APL) is seeking a full-time Anatomical or General Pathologist with a Gastrointestinal (GI) Pathology Fellowship to join the team at the Rockyview General Hospital (RGH), Calgary, Alberta. Expertise in Gastrointestinal & Liver pathology is required and will comprise the majority of sign-out activity.
Alberta Precision Laboratories (APL) as a wholly owned subsidiary of Alberta Health Services (AHS), i s a multi-site, sole provider of comprehensive laboratory services in the province of Alberta . The depth and breadth of medical expertise results in a premium level of testing quality, service, follow up care, and support to our customers and their patients while ensuring the safety, accessibility, and stability of laboratory services. Calgary Zone, APL, processes 30+ million tests, 260,000 surgical specimens, 200,000 gynecologic cytology specimens, and 10,000 non-gynecologic cytology specimens annually. The successful candidate will join a team of 95+ laboratory physicians and scientists working mostly at an acute care institution with a smaller group of pathologists. Participation in a multi-site anatomic pathology on-call rotation is expected.
Job Summary CD# Responsibilities
The Anatomical/General Pathologist must maintain the highest possible standards of practice including prompt delivery of services to match established key performance indicators and provincial metrics, must actively participate in quality assurance and quality improvement programs, and must actively participate in undergraduate, graduate, and postgraduate medical teaching.
Qualifications:
Qualifications include a MD, eligibility for licensure in the Province of Alberta with certification in Anatomic Pathology, Anatomic Pathology/Clinical Pathology by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada or the American Board of Pathology and subspecialty fellowship training and/or extensive experience in Gastrointestinal & Liver Pathology. Additional interest/expertise in ophthalmic, genitourinary, and/or breast pathology will be considered favorably. The successful incumbent will also be required to obtain the appropriate professional liability coverage.
