Slalom is seeking an Analytics Engineer to join as Senior Consultant or Consultant in a hybrid role with onsite expectations in Vancouver. You will design, build, and modernize semantic layers to enable self-service analytics, AI, and cross-platform reporting, blending Power BI/Tableau/Sigma with open-source tools.

You will translate business needs into robust data models and data solutions, collaborating with data teams to ensure data quality and governance.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of experience in analytics engineering, data engineering, or related field.
• Proficiency in SQL and/or Python; experience with semantic layer tools and analytics platforms (e.g., dbt, Looker, Power BI, Tableau, Sigma).
• Strong understanding of data modeling, ETL, and analytics solution design.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and modernize semantic layers for self-service analytics, AI, and cross-platform reporting.
• Develop data-rich apps blending standard software with open-source tech (e.g., Streamlit).
• Translate business needs into data models and technical solutions during sessions with stakeholders.
• Develop and optimize data models using SQL, Python, or other languages.
• Collaborate with data engineers, data scientists, and stakeholders to ensure data quality and usability.
• Implement best practices for data integration, governance, and analytics enablement.
• Contribute to integrated analytics experiences beyond dashboards.
• Stay current with emerging analytics engineering tools and techniques.

So, what will I do?

• Design, build, and modernize semantic layers to enable self-service analytics, AI, and cross-platform reporting
• Design and develop data-rich applications that blend standard software (Power BI, Tableau, Sigma, or similar) with open-source technologies (e.g., Streamlit)
• Facilitate design and requirements sessions with business and technical teams, translating insights into actionable data models and technical solutions
• Develop and optimize data models using SQL, Python, or other relevant languages
• Collaborate with data engineers, data scientists, and stakeholders to ensure data quality, usability, and alignment with business goals
• Implement best practices for data integration, governance, and analytics enablement
• Contribute to the delivery of integrated analytics experiences, moving beyond traditional dashboards to deliver holistic, user-centric solutions
• Stay current with emerging tools and techniques in analytics engineering, AI, and data platforms

And, what will I bring?

• 3-5 years of experience in analytics engineering, data engineering, or a related field
• Proficiency in SQL and/or Python; experience with semantic layer tools and analytics platforms (e.g., dbt, Looker, Power BI, Tableau, Sigma)
• Strong understanding of data modeling, ETL processes, and analytics solution design
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to translate business needs into technical solutions
• Fluency in whiteboarding and design solutions for data mapping and user experience requirements
• Exposure to or interest in AI/ML integration and modern data architectures
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills

Hybrid/In office: We are hybrid but there are expectations that if your team leader requires you onsite that you are able to meet those expectations/requirements

Slalom is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. For this position, the expected base salary pay range depends on your level.

Consultant: $85,000 - $115,000

Senior Consultant: $100,000 - $135,000

In addition, there is potential for a discretionary bonus based on individual and company performance. Actual compensation will depend upon individual's skills, experience, qualifications, and other relevant factors.
