Responsibilities
- Learn new software quickly and thoroughly through both training and your own testing and research of existing documentation. You’ll continuously develop your knowledge of a complex and configurable set of products as they evolve.
- Analyze requirements provided by Product management and the wider Claims team. You’ll assess requirements for application enhancements and validate proposed solutions and alternatives. You’ll ensure a common understanding of business problems and solutions between product and technical teams.
- Find inventive solutions to complex problems. You’ll propose new enhancements and features based on previously identified customer requirements and validate these solutions with stakeholders.
- Document technical specifications for development and quality assurance teams, using design documents, user stories, wireframes, prototypes, and mockups of user interfaces to clearly communicate solutions.
- Demonstrate impeccable attention to detail in your specifications, mockups, and evaluation of implemented products.
- Ensure that new features and enhancements fit seamlessly with existing products, technologies and patterns by collaborating with technical leads and developers during design and implementation.
- Communicate with development, quality assurance and product teams to advocate for the user and convey the rationale for product, design, and implementation decisions. You’ll also confirm intended product behavior when questions or defects are identified by development or QA.
- Present completed features internally at our regular end-of-sprint demos.
- Contribute to improvement of the business system analyst team’s processes and shared knowledge.
Job Qualifications :
Qualifications and Skills
- 3-5+ years of experience as a business systems analyst or functional analyst, or in a similar role as a software product or UI / UX designer, product analyst, product owner, business analyst and / or systems integration specialist for software applications
- Previously contributed to the development and design of complex software with a large user base that has evolved to include multiple new features over several years
- Bachelor’s degree (BS or BA) or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Experience working with agile development teams
- A balance of technical knowledge and business acumen
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage competing priorities
- Experience with user interface wireframing and prototyping tools (Balsamiq Mockups, Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD, InVision) or a strong interest to develop and enhance this skillset
- Experience working with or designing for APIs or a strong interest to develop and enhance this skillset
- Experience with JIRA, Aha!, or similar issue or requirement management software
- Enthusiasm, integrity, reliability, adaptability, and respect for diversity
- Ability to pay attention to details while always keeping the "big picture" in mind
- Curiosity about customer needs and how to adapt and enhance software to meet those needs

Assets :
- Insurance industry knowledge (Property & Casualty - Claims)
- Strong vision and leadership skills
- Experience in requirements discovery, interviewing or requirements gathering. (Although this is not a business analyst role, experience / familiarity with standard practices and techniques of business analysis can be an asset.)
- Knowledge of or experience working in a development environment using REST and SOAP APIs, .NET, AngularJS, SQL, XML, C# or C++. (Although this is not a data analyst or developer role, experience / familiarity is an asset.)
- Toronto-based candidates : Bilingual (French and English) is an asset
