Reporting to the Associate Director of the Computer and Software Engineering Department, the successful candidate plans and oversees the delivery of a state-of-the-art IT and software infrastructure. This infrastructure supports the department's administrative systems and teaching and research laboratories at all levels. They also collaborate with other stakeholders in the software and IT field to integrate this infrastructure with that of Polytechnique and ensure access to services for the department's users.

Main Responsibilities
  • Plans and oversees the implementation and maintenance of specialized servers (physical machines, virtual infrastructure, networking, storage) for the department's administration, teaching, and research. Analyzes customer needs and makes appropriate recommendations;
  • Manages departmental authentication systems. Programs and maintains access synchronization systems between workstations, servers, networks, and storage systems with institutional access data.
  • Advises, supports, and oversees customer training on the tools and software offered by the department; ensures the proper functioning of the IT infrastructure (integrity, stability, performance, compatibility, and security); participates in the selection, deployment, and support of the department's software and IT technologies for administrative staff, teachers, and researchers.
  • Supervises, when required, work delegated to technicians and staff, providing them with working methods and feedback on the results obtained.
  • Technical Project and Request Management: In collaboration with the technical team, ensures follow-up on technical requests for the request system within an acceptable and reasonable timeframe. Respects priorities and ensures the application of policies and regulations established by the School.
  • Interacts with other services and departments (meetings, discussions, and support)
  • Ensures technological monitoring for their sector of activity, including equipment renewal budgets for workstations, servers, networking, and storage.
  • Manages software support licenses, servers, storage, and networking.
  • Carries out other related projects or mandates assigned by their immediate superior.
Requirements
Education
  • Bachelor's degree in computer engineering or a relevant discipline.
Experience
  • Minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience in a Analyst position, using new information and communication technologies in the context of a department specializing in computer and software engineering.
Skills and Qualities Required
  • Advanced knowledge of virtual infrastructures, networking, operating systems, authentication systems, various programming languages, and information technologies.
  • Expertise in IT security (anti-virus/EDR, firewall, SSL-Web certificate management, backups, regular audits of system logs, operating system updates)
  • Good knowledge of French (spoken and written) and English.
  • Proven ability to understand and meet the needs of a specialized clientele.
Salary

Class 8 (from $68,491 to $115,959) $).

Work duration and schedule
  • Temporary position.
  • Term of employment: 12 months with possibility of extension (for information purposes only).
