POSITION SUMMARY

We are seeking a highly motivated Private Equity Analyst to join our investment team. In this role, you will participate in the evaluation of potential portfolio investments and support the team to drive value creation initiatives across portfolio companies. You will also play an important role in our investor communications, including reporting and marketing materials.

The ideal candidate should be a self-starter with exceptional analytical skills, high curiosity and resourcefulness. In this role, you will interact closely with senior professionals from the asset management industry, as well as global-class investors. You will be called upon to contribute your ideas and your views as we continue to establish partnerships with leading asset managers around the world.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Conduct research into prospective investment opportunities and the underlying asset classes managed by these target firms
• Build and maintain detailed financial models (LBO, DCF) and conduct precedent transaction and comparable company analysis to support investment valuation, transaction structuring and financing
• Support due diligence activities for prospective investments, including the coordination of third-party advisors
• Contribute to the execution of transactions
• Support the preparation of investment recommendations and memoranda for WGAM’s investment committee
• Ongoing monitoring and support of portfolio companies, including the quarterly valuation process and presentation materials for internal and external stakeholders
• Collaborate with portfolio company management teams on strategic value creation initiatives
• Assist in the creation and regular updating of investor-facing marketing materials including presentations, factsheets, and newsletters
• Participate in investor communications and reporting efforts, including the drafting of investor reports and responses to RFPs

QUALIFICATIONS

• Exceptional analytical thinking, critical judgment and attention to detail
• 1 to 3 years of relevant experience in investment banking, private equity, corporate development, asset management, or M&A
• Strong financial modeling, analytical, and accounting skills
• CFA designation or in progress or Master’s degree in Finance, a strong asset
• Bachelor’s degree in finance, economics, accounting, or a related field
• Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously
• Fully bilingual (English and French), with exceptional written communication skills in both languages*
• Familiarity with AI tools and ability to program in Python, SQL or other, an asset

* Required due to frequent interactions with portfolio companies located outside of Quebec and the need to produce investor-facing materials in English.
