Job summary

Cogeco Connexion is searching for a Financial Analyst to assist in validating programming fees and managing various rebates. This temporary role involves extensive use of Excel to analyze invoicing processes and ensure accurate payments. Ideal candidates will bring 3-5 years of relevant experience and bilingual proficiency.

Job Description

The analyst will primarily support the director and current analyst to document and validate the various rebates to BZL programmers (programming fees). This includes:

  • Validations: Excel calculations/formulas, rates, subscriber numbers, payments, etc.
  • Document the structure of rebates by channel/programmer.
  • The analyst will also support the current analyst with monthly calculations and payments operations.

Information on royalties to BZL Affiliates: approximately 250 invoices, monthly payment of $20M USD.

Main Responsibilities
  • Validate and correct formulas in Excel files.
  • Identify potential discrepancies/errors.
  • Calculate retroactive adjustments.
  • Analyze the impacts of subscriber correction if reporting errors occur.
  • Review ad-hoc and retroactive adjustment requests related to auditors and negotiated contracts, and perform calculation adjustments for payments.
  • Begin documenting each rebate: link to Contract, Rate, Systems, Feed, Subscriber Count, Packages, Re-transmission, etc.
Essential Requirements
Academic Background
  • College diploma in administration or relevant experience combined with training.
Work Experience
  • 3-5 years of experience as a financial analyst or billing specialist.
Specific Skills
  • Autonomy and initiative
  • Excellent teamwork skills
  • Experience in process review and improvement
  • Ability to analyze and resolve complex situations and propose solutions
  • Proficiency in Excel
  • Knowledge of Workday – an asset
