The primary focus of the Analyst, Payroll is to support the Payroll Manager with payroll projects, system maintenance, analysis of employee data, and ensuring accurate, efficient payroll execution across Canada. The analyst will handle payroll for high-volume teams in multiple provinces, uphold system integrity, and ensure compliance with legislation and company policies within Ceridian Dayforce.

What you will do in this role :

  1. Conduct regular analysis of payroll data to identify trends and opportunities for improvement.
  2. Lead process improvement initiatives to enhance payroll efficiency.
  3. Collaborate with government agencies and stakeholders for audits.
  4. Troubleshoot and resolve data errors from system interfaces.
  5. Manage employee options such as benefits, vacation, and personal days.
  6. Perform payroll journal entries in JDE and coordinate with Finance on related transactions.
  7. Maintain Ceridian Dayforce system configurations to meet evolving company needs.
  8. Audit employee setups, earnings, and deductions periodically, correcting deficiencies.
  9. Verify quarterly tax forms, balance PIER, and prepare for Year-End reporting.
  10. Assist with Year-End activities including adjustments and tax form issuance.
  11. Calculate and report WCB/EHT contributions.
  12. Process payroll accurately for salaried and hourly employees, including master data updates and adjustments.
  13. Respond promptly to inquiries from Finance, HR, managers, and employees.
  14. Guide and support the Payroll Team and back up the Payroll Manager.
  15. Support project work and other duties as assigned.

What we are looking for :

  • Post-secondary education in Administration or Accounting preferred.
  • Canadian Payroll Association - PCP is required; CPM is preferred.
  • 5+ years of full-cycle payroll processing experience in large organizations (>5000 employees).
  • Knowledge of Canadian employment law and multi-provincial payroll legislation.
  • Experience with Ceridian Dayforce and JDE is preferred.
  • Experience in a unionized payroll environment is an advantage.
