Job summary

SGS is seeking a Lab Analyst to execute testing per SOPs and ISO/cGMP guidelines in a fast-paced environment at our Mississauga labs. You will document results, manage daily workflow, and collaborate with peers and supervisors to ensure quality outcomes.

We expect a B.Sc. in a science-related field and 2+ years of relevant experience, with hands-on wet chemistry skills. This role may require extended hours and shift work as needed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a science field.
  • 2+ years with ability to handle moderate to complex duties.
  • Proficient in wet chemistry techniques including titration, pH, UV/IR.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Execute and perform testing as per SOPs, ISO and cGMP guidelines.
  • Collaborate with Analysts and communicate effectively with peers and superiors.
  • Ensure documentation is complete and results recorded in LIS/Certificate of Analysis.
  • Prioritize and plan daily work to meet schedules and due dates.
  • Report testing failures to Department Manager and assist investigations.

Job Description
  • Execute and perform testing as per methods, following the company’s Standard Operating Procedures, ISO and cGMP guidelines.
  • Work as a team with other Analysts and communicate effectively with peers and superiors.
  • Ensure that work order documentation is complete in every aspect and all results are entered into the electronic Laboratory Information System or the Client’s Certificate of Analysis before submission to the QA reviewer.
  • Prioritize, schedule and plan daily work in order to maintain efficient work flow to assure completion of schedule and due dates.
  • In case of testing failure, immediately report to the Department Manager and/or Group Leader before proceeding any further with the test. Assist in the failure investigations as instructed. Do not discard any solutions or glassware that was used during testing.
  • Inform the Department Manager and/or Group Leader, as far in advance as possible, if the assigned work order cannot be satisfactorily completed within established scheduled time and quality of work expectations.
  • Perform additional assigned lab duties and periodically update Department Manager and/or Group Leader on the status.
  • Record findings in standardized format, keeping all records and analyst note book in good order. Prepare reports and record data in timely manner.
Qualifications
  • B.Sc. in Science related field
  • 2+ years with demonstrated ability to complete more moderate to complex role/duties.
  • Hand/Eye coordination, ability to stand out, think outside the box.
  • Demonstrated knowledge/ experience in wet chemistry (such as manual titration, limit test), TOC, Conductivity, pH, UV, IR, Autotitration, elemental impurities.
  • Knowledge and Experience in PSD is an asset.
  • Must be proficient in using various types of computer software (Word, Excel. PowerPoint & Outlook).
  • Proven ability to manage and coordinate multiple projects in a fast-paced, highly professional environment.
  • Demonstrates excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Works well under pressure.
  • Extended hours and shift work may be required from time to time.
  • Vision test is required (such as color or accuracy).
