Position Summary:

As an Analyst in the Global Trade team, you will play a key role in supporting the delivery of client-centric solutions across trade finance and supply chain products. This role is ideal for individuals who are passionate about learning, thrive in dynamic environments, and are eager to build technical and interpersonal skills. You will contribute to deal execution, client engagement, and internal initiatives while developing a strong foundation in trade finance.

Key Responsibilities:

Responsibilities
  • Technical Skills
    • Product Knowledge & Execution: Build foundational knowledge of trade finance products (e.g., Letters of Credit, Trade Loans, Supply Chain Finance). Support client calls and assist in preparing product pitches and presentations. Conduct basic financial and credit analysis related to trade finance transactions.
  • Portfolio Management:
    • Completes due diligence and credit analysis on new and existing client relationships.
    • Assist in scheduling and preparing annual reviews for trade finance clients.
    • Update Salesforce with client objectives and meeting notes.
    • Participate in client meetings and site visits to gain exposure to relationship dynamics.
  • Credit & Legal:
    • Complete straightforward sections of transaction analysis and reporting.
    • Learn credit processes, risk rating scales, and trade finance guidelines.
    • Support documentation and due diligence efforts for new transactions.
  • Systems & Reporting:
    • Use platforms such as BMO’s back-end trade finance application, Salesforce, proprietary marketing repository and asset management tools for data entry, reporting and pitching artifacts.
    • Apply Microsoft Office tools to build client pitchbooks and internal presentations.
  • Interpersonal Skills
    • Collaboration & Teamwork: Work effectively with internal stakeholders including product partners, credit teams, and relationship managers. Participate in recruiting, training, and social initiatives to build internal networks.
    • Communication: Communicate clearly and professionally in both written and verbal formats. Present information confidently and listen actively during meetings and client interactions.
    • Problem Solving & Critical Thinking: Identify key issues in transactions and propose thoughtful solutions. Participate in structuring and documenting deals with guidance from senior team members.
    • Adaptability & Time Management: Manage multiple tasks and shifting priorities with resilience and organization. Plan ahead to meet deadlines and deliver high-quality work under pressure.
    • Leadership & Initiative: Take ownership of assigned tasks and seek opportunities to contribute beyond core responsibilities. Demonstrate professionalism, integrity, and emotional intelligence in all interactions. Works mostly independently.
  • Qualifications
    • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or a related field.
    • Strong analytical and organizational skills.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and CRM systems (e.g., Salesforce).
    • Interest in trade finance, global markets, and client relationship management.
    • In Office Requirement: 4 days in office or at client meetings.

    The annual base salary range for this position is CAD $75k – 80k.

    Salaries will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications for the role, and may include a commission structure. Salaries for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on number of hours regularly worked. For commission roles, the salary listed above represents BMO Financial Group’s expected target for the first year in this position.

    BMO Financial Group’s total compensation package will vary based on the pay type of the position and may include performance-based incentives, discretionary bonuses, as well as other perks and rewards.
