What you’ll be doing

CIBC Capital Markets offers innovative solutions to corporate, government, and institutional clients to help raise capital, grow, and invest across North America, Latin America, and key financial centers worldwide. Our mission is to bring Canadian Capital Markets products globally and to attract international clients to Canada.

The Global Investment Banking division provides equity and debt underwriting, along with corporate finance advisory services, including mergers, acquisitions, joint ventures, hostile takeovers, buyouts, takeover defenses, and restructurings. The team collaborates extensively within the firm to deliver tailored financing and advisory solutions.

The Analyst role is challenging and fast-paced, requiring dedication, a passion for excellence, and a strong work ethic. Based in Montreal, responsibilities include analytical support, financial modeling, research, and presentation preparation for the team.

How you’ll succeed
  • Developing Client Proposals: Assist in creating proposals for equity and debt placements, mergers, divestitures, acquisitions, and other financial services.
  • Research: Conduct industry research and analysis to identify business opportunities.
  • Financial Models: Develop and review complex financial models; analyze industry and financial data for client recommendations.
  • Due Diligence: Lead comparable company and transaction analyses; support due diligence investigations.
  • Prospectus Preparation: Prepare offering memoranda and marketing materials, assist with prospectus drafting.
Who you are
  • Educational Background: Undergraduate degree; experience in corporate finance, investment banking, M&A, or private equity preferred; CFA or CPA designations optional.
  • Forward-Thinking: You see the bigger picture, seek new opportunities, and have a strong work ethic. Capable of handling responsibilities under pressure, with excellent communication skills.
  • Technical Skills: Proficient in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), Bloomberg, FactSet; knowledgeable in valuation techniques, accounting principles, and business analysis.
  • Relationship Skills: Strong interpersonal skills to build and manage client and partner relationships, uphold professionalism, and exercise sound judgment.
