The Global Asset Liability Management (GALM) team leads in identifying and managing asset/liability risks for Manulife and John Hancock's global general accounts. The North America Segment Management team within GALM supports ALM risk management, implements long-term and tactical ALM strategies, and optimizes the balance sheet considering tax, capital, liquidity, accounting, and reserving constraints for the Canadian and US segments.

Reporting to the AVP, North America Segment Management, this role involves leading, coordinating, or supporting balance sheet management activities, including asset strategy implementation, risk management, and analysis. The position offers interaction with various business partners across Manulife's North America operations, providing insight into diverse investments and business activities.

Responsibilities

  • Process policy cash flow settlements, segment top-up/top-downs, and asset transfers.
  • Implement and monitor investment strategies.
  • Collaborate with the ALM Reporting and Analysis team to analyze asset positions, prepare reports for the Segment Asset Liability Committee and partners.
  • Review and update ALM policies and documents.
  • Ensure report accuracy and support risk management strategies.
  • Develop understanding of tax, capital, liquidity, and reserving to contribute to balance sheet solutions.
  • Support additional projects and ad-hoc requests.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, investments, risk management, or related field.
  • Experience in financial services or investment risk management is a plus.
