Job summary

IMAX is seeking a Financial Analyst, Film Finance to join our growing Finance team. Based in our Sheridan Park office, this role partners closely with the Manager, Film Finance and collaborates with Finance, Distribution, Legal, and other cross-functional teams to support IMAX's film development, production, and distribution activities.

The Financial Analyst will be responsible for full-cycle accounting and financial reporting for IMAX's documentary and theatrical film portfolio, including

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • CPA designation or actively pursuing a CPA designation is preferred.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in Financial Analysis, Corporate Accounting, or a related finance role within a large, multinational, or publicly traded organization.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles; knowledge of U.S. GAAP is an asset.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Experience with SAP, BlackLine, or other ERP/accounting systems.
  • Strong analytical, financial modeling, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate across multiple business functions.

About The Role

IMAX is seeking a Financial Analyst, Film Finance to join our growing Finance team. Based in our Sheridan Park office, this role partners closely with the Manager, Film Finance and collaborates with Finance, Distribution, Legal, and other cross‑functional teams to support IMAX's film development, production, and distribution activities. The Financial Analyst will be responsible for full‑cycle accounting and financial reporting for IMAX's documentary and theatrical film portfolio. This includes validating box office reporting, supporting royalty settlements, preparing participation statements, maintaining relationships with studio partners, and driving continuous process improvements across the Film Finance function. This role is ideal for an analytical finance professional with strong accounting knowledge and an interest in the entertainment industry.

Financial Accounting & Reporting
  • Support accounting and financial reporting for IMAX's film development, production, and distribution activities
  • Prepare monthly revenue recognition, accruals, true‑ups, and related journal entries
  • Calculate monthly film asset amortization using ultimate revenue forecasts
  • Support month‑end close activities, including journal entries, accounting reclasses, and reconciliation of film‑related accounts
  • Prepare monthly balance sheet reconciliations in BlackLine
Film Revenue & Royalty Management
