Job description

PRIMARY PURPOSE:

To perform routine duties including natural gas and crude oil compressors/pumps, equipment driver mechanical and performance analysis, vibration analysis and reporting, exhaust analysis, technical support and recommendations, third-party oversight, and other related duties as required.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Perform routine performance and maintenance analysis on motors, engines, turbines, pumps, and compressors.
  2. Conduct periodic portable emissions testing and modeling.
  3. Perform vibration testing and data analysis; participate in ongoing vibration mitigation programs.
  4. Create engine and compressor models to establish or improve performance and control system accuracy.
  5. Use ultrasonic leak detection and quantification techniques.
  6. Monitor the reliability of mechanical systems and equipment.
  7. Provide problem determination and resolution through root cause analysis and technical reporting.
  8. Identify and report environmental concerns; assist in their correction.
  9. Document and communicate the mechanical health of equipment to management.
  10. Ensure all work complies with company standards, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  11. Assist with start-up and commissioning of new natural gas and oil pump station equipment.
  12. Be prepared for extensive overnight travel as required.
  13. Interact tactfully and professionally with a variety of people.
  14. Communicate clearly both in person and by telephone; listen carefully.
  15. Maintain dependable attendance and high performance standards.
  16. Work non-traditional hours as needed.
  17. Prioritize safety for oneself, colleagues, assets, and the public.
  18. Perform additional duties as assigned.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Education:

  • Two-year degree in Applied Science or an Engineering-related field from an accredited college, or
  • Minimum two years of relevant work experience as a substitute for a degree.

Experience/Knowledge:

  • Intermediate proficiency in MS Office applications.
  • Good math skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Customer-focused approach.
  • Ability to organize, plan, prioritize, and work independently.
  • Comfortable working with remote pipeline systems and personnel.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude.
  • Knowledge of electronic equipment, high-pressure gas, processing equipment, engines, motors, compressors, and pumps.
  • Knowledge of performance analysis, emissions testing, vibration testing, PLC systems, and data collection hardware/software.
  • Self-motivated with proven troubleshooting skills.

Certifications, Licenses & Registrations:

  • Valid driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record.

Competencies, Skills & Abilities:

  • Ability to perform all essential and marginal functions.
  • Teamwork, adherence to schedules, attention to detail, and compliance with work rules.
  • Manage multiple tasks with deadlines.
  • Organize and prioritize daily work effectively.
  • Experience level varies; position depends on qualifications and skills.

Physical Demands:

Must be able to sit, stand, walk, drive, talk, see, hear, feel, bend, stoop, squat, reach, kneel, push, pull, and lift up to 25 lbs. Reasonable accommodations may be made.

Working Conditions:

Must carry a cell phone, be available for response outside regular hours, pass background and drug screening, and work in various weather conditions and travel extensively.

Supervisory Responsibility: None.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Over 10 years of technical experience in pipeline operations, instrumentation, electronics, control systems, engines, and compressors.
  • Industry-specific training and certifications.
  • Strong computer skills and knowledge of control systems like PLCs.
  • Experience with predictive maintenance technologies and data collection equipment.
  • Ability to interpret electrical and mechanical blueprints.
  • Knowledge of handling flammable gases, liquids, and high-pressure systems.
  • Proficiency with electronic test instruments and electrical measurements.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to interpret data.

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:

Perform other duties as assigned.
