POSITION OVERVIEW:

This role is located at our Yonge Eglinton location and reports to the Manager, Corporate Tax. The position is responsible for the Canadian tax compliance preparation and tax accounting/ provision.


RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Compliance: Preparation of the annual Canadian tax returns (corporations, trusts, and partnerships), UHT return, and foreign reporting forms;
  • Tax Accounting – Preparation of tax reports and schedules related to the quarterly and annual external audit;
  • Preparing certain reports related to our REIT compliance;
  • Liaising with tax authorities and outside advisors;
  • Compliance with internal controls over financial reporting and disclosure controls;
  • On-going tax research on tax issues;
  • Other duties / projects as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • 1 - 3 years of relevant work experience at an accounting firm or real estate;
  • University Degree in Finance or Accounting;
  • Enrollment in the CPA Program is an asset;
  • Real estate tax knowledge and real estate experience with Canadian tax;
  • Proficient in Excel, Word, and Outlook;
  • Ability to meet tight deadlines;
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with a wide variety of internal and external customers;
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills;
  • Working knowledge of Yardi is considered an asset;
  • Working knowledge of Power Bi is considered an asset.
