The Role
The Corporate Strategic Initiatives (“CSI”) group is responsible for leading and supporting various corporate initiatives and/or other initiatives involving any of MCAP’s lines of business. Specifically, our mandate includes the following key areas: 1) new initiatives which may include mergers & acquisitions, developing new lending programs and sourcing capital, 2) market research and economic outlooks, 3) government relations and 4) corporate relationship management as it pertains to MCAP’s sub-servicing clients.
This position will be responsible for assisting the Director, CSI with such initiatives. The Analyst will be responsible for assistance in the preparation of business cases and related term sheets, quantitative analysis (i.e. cash flow modeling/ projections) and presentations. The Analyst will also be responsible for working with the appropriate business units to understand products and processes to support such initiatives.
The Analyst will also be responsible for ongoing market research. This will include having a deep understanding of the macroeconomic & regulatory environment and its impact on the real estate and mortgage markets. Additionally, the Analyst will be responsible for drafting market related reports and/or presentations that are intended for both internal and external audiences.
Lastly, the Analyst will be responsible for assisting with board packages and any additional ad-hoc requests.
Financial Analysis and Support of Corporate Strategic Initiatives
- Provide support for the development and implementation of corporate strategic initiatives which include:
- Working with the business units to understand processes and products as well as their needs;
- Preparation of business cases, related term sheets and presentations;
- Preparation of quantitative analysis including cash flow modelling/projections;
- Data mining and analysis;
- Analyze and recommend appropriate solutions or alternatives when supporting management in decision making;
- Identify efficiencies and assist in the build out of new operational processes;
- Effectively communicate results with working parties, including management;
- Ad hoc requests.
Market Research and Reporting
- Key contributor to the preparation of market research and analysis;
- Research and obtain relevant market data from various sources and summarize findings in a clear and concise manner;
- Continuously stay current on market events and provide updates to management accordingly;
- Coordinate the collection of data and reports from various internal parties to ensure reports are completed and submitted for review on a timely basis;
- Preparation of reports and presentations that are tailored to their intended audience (e.g: board, clients and/or management);
- Assist in the preparation of board package materials;
- Ad hoc requests.
What You Bring To The Team
- 3+ years working knowledge of mortgages
- Finance/Accounting background
- Experience in capital markets is an asset
- Excel, Word and PowerPoint proficiency is required
- Strong writing and communication skills
- Strong interpersonal skills including proven ability to build and foster relationships
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills
- Financial modelling skills, including DCF/NPV/IRR analysis
- Strong attention to detail
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills
- Ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment
- Self-driven and motivated individual with the ability to work independently and in a team environment
- Carries out duties with integrity and takes responsibility for actions
- University Degree (Business, Economics, or Finance)
