Job Description : Cogeco Communications, a publicly-traded multinational telecommunications company, is looking for an Analyst, Strategy and Corporate Development to join its team in Montreal.

Reporting to the Vice President of Strategy and Corporate Development, the Analyst will play an active role in supporting the company's growth plan, actively participate in supporting key strategic decision processes, and assisting with mergers and acquisitions as well as capital allocation decisions. This individual will also perform analyses for organic growth projects and produce sector comparative analyses (benchmarking).

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Build and maintain financial models to evaluate M&A opportunities, help the executive team make important strategic decisions or determine the financial impact of selected key initiatives.
  • Actively contribute to the end-to-end deal execution process, which can include coordinating cross-functional due diligence streams and synthesizing findings into actionable insights.
  • Together with directors in the team, collaborate with senior leaders to define long-term strategic plans, evaluate organic growth opportunities, and assess capital allocation strategies.
  • Monitor the North American TMT landscape, tracking competitor strategies, industry developments, and emerging technologies to keep the senior management team informed on key market trends.
  • Prepare high-quality, compelling presentations and investment memos for C-suite executives and the Board of Directors. The role provides the opportunity for meaningful exposure to senior leaders in the organization, as well as seasoned advisors covering our industry
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
ACADEMIC BACKGROUND

Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or Business Administration. A CPA, CFA, or CBV designation (or progress towards one) is a strong asset. Completion of Wall Street Prep or any other equivalent training is also considered an asset

WORK EXPERIENCE

2 to 3 years of experience in corporate development, investment banking, private equity, transaction advisory, or management consulting.

SKILLS
  • Established financial modeling and valuation skills, built upon a thorough understanding of corporate finance and accounting concepts, a strong attention to detail and advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Proven ability to perform complex analyses and solve problems, including being comfortable with manipulating and analyzing large datasets
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in both French and English. The employee will collaborate with stakeholders outside of Quebec.
  • Autonomous team player, with the ability to work independently as well as interact with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Intellectual curiosity/Interest in learning on operations, technology and financial markets.
  • Proficiency using mainstream LLMs and other AI tools in the context of producing high quality analyses
  • Experience in the telecom industry will be considered an asset.
