Job summary

Bank of Montreal in Toronto seeks a Project Finance Analyst to support origination, structuring, and execution of complex lending transactions across power, utilities, infrastructure, and energy sectors. You will analyze credit risk, build financial models, prepare due diligence and documentation for internal and external stakeholders.

The role requires strong Excel skills, keen attention to detail and the ability to work both independently and within a team under tight deadlines.

Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree in business, finance or economics with strong academics.
  • Experience in financial services analyzing corporate, commercial or project finance credit risk.
  • Project finance experience and financial modelling ability are assets.

Responsibilities

  • Origination and execution support for project finance and structured lending.
  • Prepare credit submissions, memoranda and presentations for committees and stakeholders.
  • Perform credit analysis, due diligence, and risk assessment across deals.
  • Coordinate with internal teams to closing and funding, ensuring controls and compliance.

Application Deadline:10/10/2026Address:100 King Street WestJob Family Group:Capital Mrkts Sales & ServiceJob DescriptionSupports the origination and structuring of project finance and structured lending transactions across a variety of industries and asset classes including power generation, utilities, infrastructure, energy and energy transition, and digital infrastructure. The individual will ultimately be responsible for supporting senior professionals in business development and day-to-day execution of these transactions. The position requires an individual who thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment and the ability to work independently with minimal guidance under time constraints will be a key differentiator of success.Origination and Execution:Understand the construction, operational, and financing inputs to the project financial model including investing significant time in preparing and explaining credit scenarios and sensitivities, key metrics, and summary outputsSupport, and eventually lead, various aspects of project financing transactions through to closing. These include but are not limited to:Credit analysisRisk and return analysisDue diligence (contracts, legal memoranda, etc.)Third-party consultant reports (independent engineer, market/insurance/environmental consultant, etc.)Credit documentation support (financing agreements, term sheets, etc.)Financial closing coordinationAML/KYC and client onboarding activities and coordinationVirtual data room (VDR) managementAssist in preparing credit submissions (i.e., applications, memoranda, presentations, etc.) for internal (investment and risk committees) and external stakeholders (clients, investors, lenders, developers)Summarize diligence materials to develop and produce coherent recommendations and identify key risks and mitigantsRun internal return models and capital committee memosCoordinate with credit and operations teams from origination through closing and fundingConsiders risk, internal controls and compliance as part of day-to-day accountabilities and adherence to policies and proceduresQualifications:Undergraduate degree in business, finance/accounting, economics with outstanding academic achievement (academic transcript to be provided if available)Financial services experience analyzing large corporate, commercial or project finance credit riskProject finance experience is an asset, especially financial modelling experience and proficiencyStrong organizational and time-management skills with exceptional attention to detailOutstanding communication (written, oral, listening) and interpersonal skills with ability to present complex information succinctly to internal and external audiencesSelf-starter with ability to learn quickly and work independently while also being able to work effectively in a team environmentDesire and willingness to demonstrate accountability and proactively anticipate team needsHighly proficient in Excel, PowerPoint, WordStrong working knowledge of and ability to leverage AI to drive efficiency will be considered an assetPlease note the base salary for this role is $95,000.00 CADSalary :Pay Type:SalariedThe above represents BMO Financial Group’s pay range and type.Salaries will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications for the role, and may include a commission structure.
