CDS is Canada’s national securities depository, clearing and settlement hub for domestic and cross-border depository-eligible securities. It supports Canada’s equity, fixed income and money markets and is accountable for the safe custody and movement of securities, the processing of post-trade transactions, and the collection and distribution of entitlements relating to securities deposited by participants.

Reporting to Manager CDS Collateral & Banking, you are accountable for ensuring complete and timely processing as well as supporting CDS participants in areas such as:
• Collateral management, Securities and Cash
• Bank of Canada Lynx large value transfer system payments
• US Banks fed wires
• Ongoing client support

Key accountabilities

  • Point person for setting and follow on participants satisfying their collateral requirements

  • Ensuring successful launch and daily execution of the monitored processes

  • Building and documenting procedures

  • Central point of contact for clients, and ongoing client engagement to ensure client needs are met and solutions are provided

  • Provide high level knowledge of technical and analytical expertise regarding Collateral/Banking/Settlements

  • Ensure full Cash Reconciliation with all Bank accounts

  • Ensure successful completion of end of day Payment Exchange

  • Ensure complete and accurate Issuer Credit Rating

  • Ensure processing the CNS Buyins by the established deadlines

  • Back up for the Banking Analyst

  • Relationship Management with Regulators, Internal and External Audit, Risk Management, Finance and Technology partners

  • Strict adherence to internal procedures, rules, audit requirements and internal controls verification processes

  • Makes recommendations using professional judgment, guided by known practices

  • Work on Canadian Holidays when the USA is open for Banking and Collateral functions

Must haves

  • Post-Secondary education in Business Administration and/or Accounting is preferred

  • Minimum of 2 - 4 years’ experience in the Securities Financial Industry

  • Solid knowledge in Operations or Securities Accounting in the Securities Financial Industry

  • Experience in handling wires, in both setting and approving online payments

  • Strong proficiency with Google and other desktop applications

  • Solid organization skills with the demonstrated ability to plan and prioritize

  • Advanced technical and analytical skills

  • Ability to propose operational solutions and solve moderately complex problems specific to a project or assignment

  • Self-motivated and able to work with minimum supervision, as well as a team player

  • Detailed and results oriented

Nice to haves

  • Proficient in Microsoft / Google suite

  • Solid interpersonal skills

  • Effective listening, written and verbal communication skills
