What is the opportunity?

The purpose of the origination role is to market, structure and execute securitized transactions and to be responsible for providing high quality products and services for RBC’s clients while at the same time generating a material source of revenue, favorable risk/return profile, cross-selling opportunities and client impact for RBC.

What will you do?

  • Assist with the preparation of marketing materials for existing and target clients

  • Prepare data analysis, including statistical stratification of collateral portfolios, historical performance statistics, projection of future performance expectations, and derivation of expected case losses

  • Assist with preparation of materials and participate in the com-com (business approval) process

  • Assist with client sponsorship review

  • Participate in the preparation of credit write-ups (Transaction Request) that contain transaction terms and conditions. Assist with the review and approval of Transaction Requests by Group Risk Management and the conduit equity provider (where applicable)

  • Prepare RFPs and Information Memorandums, when applicable

  • Coordinate client, seller / servicer due diligence calls and prepare due diligence report

  • Assist with structuring of securitization transactions (primary analytical role on some transactions)

  • Actively participate in the preparation of transaction legal documentation and ensure the transaction model accurately reflects the terms of the agreements

  • Liaise with rating agencies to obtain rating agency approval of transactions

  • Assist clients in developing custom, menu driven settlement reports designed specifically to meet the terms and conditions of each transaction, where applicable (Client’s Seller Report)

  • Work with clients to assist in extracting historical portfolio information and build credit enhancement model for each transaction

  • Prepare and input required KME templates

  • Assist with annual renewals of existing transactions

  • Run transaction returns to analyse and optimise the financial resources consumed

  • Ongoing review and compliance of existing transaction performance (at least monthly)

  • Prepare scope, review and comment on initial and annual transaction AUPs

  • Help with maintenance of client relationships

  • Other deal/client transaction maintenance as required

  • Proactively identify operational risks/ control deficiencies in the business

  • Review and comply with Firm Policies applicable to the business activities

  • Escalate operational risk loss events, control deficiencies and risks that you identify to your line manager and the relevant risk and control functions promptly. Failure to do so may subject you to disciplinary action, up to and including termination

What you need to succeed?

  • Minimum of 2-5 years of relevant experience preferred

  • Significant securitization experience is required

  • Experience with multiple asset classes

  • MBA or BS in finance, economics or mathematics preferred but not required

  • Solid understanding of credit markets

  • Ambitious individual with strong presentation skills

  • Possess strong written and oral communication skills

  • Ability to prioritize and effectively manage a large workload in a high pressure environment

  • Ability to multi-task with little supervision

  • Ability to inter-act effectively & establish good working relationships with other personnel within RBC Capital Markets and external clients

  • High proficiency in Word, PowerPoint & Excel

  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills

Working Conditions:

  • Position will entail travel, domestic and overseas

  • Working conditions are extremely stressful at times

  • Considerable attention to detail and accuracy is a must

  • Hours are long and can be highly unpredictable at times (early mornings and late evenings). Workday starts at 8:30am or earlier
